WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?

Domestic violence (also known as domestic abuse or spousal abuse) occurs when a family member, partner or ex-partner attempts to physically or psychologically dominate another. Domestic violence often refers to violence between spouses, or spousal abuse but can also include co-habitants and nonmarried intimate partners. Domestic violence occurs in all cultures; people of all races, ethnicities, religions, sexes and classes.

SAFETY TIPS:

When looking at websites pertaining to domestic violence, make sure you are on a safe computer that has no risk of being looked at by anyone you feel might be a danger to you or your family. (Just deleting your internet search history will not completely hide from prying eyes the websites you have visited.)
When using you cell or home phone to call for help from domestic violence, make sure it cannot be looked at by anyone you feel might be a danger to you or your family. (Delete call history on cell phones to be sure no one can moniter your activity. Calls made from home and cell phones will show up on the monthly phone bill.)
